Synthesis and Characterization group
This group is divided into three main divisions to develop methods for the synthesis of nanomaterials and nanostructured coatings as well as making devices related to synthesis of nanomaterials and coating them. The two main goals of the activities of the group is firstly to take advantage of new technologies to solve problems and current problems of various industries, and Secondly to develop new materials and new products to improve the lives of human. In continue, each division of this group will be briefly described.
A. Synthesis division
The purpose of this division that is relied upon the different instruments, human resources have professional experience in the fields of chemistry, physics, polymers and materials as well as high motivation for team working, is the synthesis of diverse nanomaterials, nanostructured coatings and making bulk nanostructured products and synthesis equipment. Accordingly, the division has been divided into the following sections.
A.1. Synthesis section
This section was aimed to develop new economical methods for producing different nanomaterials with highest quality for different applications. Accordingly, this section, which divided into the following main sections:
(1) Production of Bulk Nanostructured Materials
(2) Production of Nanoparticles
(3) Production of nano/micro/meso-porous materials
(4) Production of colloids and nanofluids
A.2. Coating section
This section was aimed to develope new economical methods for creating different nanostructured coatings on the surface of nanomaterials and engineering parts to improve their properties particularly mechanical properties and resistance to erosion, wear as well as corrosion, and service life under operating conditions. Accordingly, this section is divided into the following main sections:
(1) Coating nanomaterials
(2) Coating engineering parts
A. 3. Making and Production section
To make new devices is an evidentnecessity to develop new methods for producing and characterizing nanomaterials as well as nanostructured coatings. In addition, appropriate using of nanomaterials and nanostructured coatings in the structure of a current product or as part of a new product is the main requirement to exploit their interesting properties. In this regard, this section was categorized as follow:
(1) Making required devices for synthesis of nanomaterials and coating nanostructure materials.
(2) Making auxiliary devices or tools for characterization instruments.
(3) Making required parts of different devices.
(4) Making products based on nanotechnology.
B. Characterization group
The group, with its experienced staff and advanced equipment microscopy (ESEM, AFM and STM, ..), spectroscopy (UV-Visible, FTIR, PL,…) and devices to measure various properties of the object microstructure, optimizing the parameters of the manufacturing process and explore the mechanisms involved in different processes contribute.
Therefore, this section is divided into the following sections
B.1. Section of microstructure, composition and phase characterization
The purposes of this section are collaborating with other groups through offering high quality services to the researchers as well as developing new methods for characterizing microstructure, composition and phases, theoretically and practically. Different segments of this section are as follow:
(1) Microscopy methods: OM, AFM, STM and SEM.
(2) Spectroscopy methods: FTIR, UV-Visible, PL and XPS.
(3) Other methods: XRF, XRD, DLS and BET.
(4) Image analysis as quantitatively and qualitatively.
B.2. Section of properties measurement
The purposes of this section are collaborating with other groups through offering high quality services to the researchers as well as developing new methods for measuring different properties, theoretically and practically. Different segments of this section are as follow:
(1) Mechanical properties
(2) Resistance to corrosion
(3) Resistance to wear and erosion
(4) Antibacterial properties
(5) Catalytic properties
(6) Thermal properties
(7) Electrical properties
(8) Magnetic properties
(9) Optical properties
